This is a little heads up more than an offical annoucement.

On 16th/17th May I will be helping to run the Hordes/Warmachine side of the "WPS Club Challenge". See Here for details on the WPS : http://www.the-wps.com/

Its held over 2 days, (3 games Saturday, 2 Sunday), and will be 1000 points.

Now the reasons for this pre-warning are :-

1. Get 1k Points of an army!
2. Get 1k Practice Games in.
3. Get it painted!

Yup sorry has to be painted if you want a good score.

This is because, while it runs as a stand-alone event, its scores and players will be entered into the WPS super-computer (a ZX80) and people who belong to the same clubs will get all their scores added together and a Trouphy is handed to the overal best club in the UK ..... and part of being the best club is generalship scores, painting, and sportsmanship. Hence all systems have a painting scoring system.

Now, don't worry if you don't belong to a club and want to attended as all the systems (WHFB, 40k, WAB, BB, Epic, + many more) all are run as a stand-alone events.

In addition there is always the "Merc's" who are Johnny-no-mates who band together for the Club Challenge.

Just before you ask, all 5 games are 2.5 hours long, and we are fixed to 5 games, as the WPS CC opperates a "Joker" system which must be played before each round by the club captain, so all systems are 5 games over 2 days.

I am still currently finishing of the rule sets, but the major set-in-stone points are covered above (1000pts, 2.5 hour games, 5 games, 2 days), but here are some that are "most probably going to be" :-

* Each game will have a difference scenario to play.
* All games won't end with the deaths of one, or both enemy warlocks/casters.
* Jim is banned from comming. tongue.gif

Hope to see some of you there !! biggrin.gif

Ohh one last point, the WPS CC is being held in a Hotel, and they have done a very cheap deal with them over costs for the Rooms and Breakfast .... and there will be a bar open from 11am to very very very ..... late.

So you don't even need to worry about accomodation or what you are going to do in the evenings! .... sweet!

Hey Neal.

Where did you get this info, any chance of a link?

I have looked on the WPS' website and can only find bare bones info, no points costs etc.

As we won't be mounting a serious challenge for the club trophy do we need to have everything painted?

I can see nothing that says it must be painted...

Also do you have an idea of cost?

wracks
seneschal
castigator

but i need to catch up on the painting really first.

Just checked the emails:

Hi there Neal.

Tell me what you want to know and I will try and fill you in.

FYI this is not a new tournament. The venue for us is new but the Club Challenge is in its 12th year (or 11th cant remember!!)

Its a multi system affair where clubs try and compete to win the WPS Club Challenge Shield. Club can also win a Club system shield and claim they are the best club in the land at that particular game system.

Check out last years CC rules at the old WPS web site - www.players-society.com under the rules system.

Basically you will need 9 players (one of them is the captn). You must enter 3 separate game systems to be elegible to win the WPS CC Shield. To win a club system shield I think from memory you need 2 players entered in that system.

Entry cost will be in the region of £35-£40 (not set yet) and hotel costs if you wish to stay at the Britannia and stay on campus will be about £35 per head if you intend sharing.

No rules/entry forms are available yet we are still costing the event and getting rule sets together. Rules for last years CC event are at the site I mentioned above. Expect to see the rules for 2009 at the new wps web site.

Regards

News just in!

This is taken from the UK Warmachine thread

Quote :
Please note, that its now been decided to run this as a 750pts tournament this year, with 1k events next year.

So now 250pts less points to paint.

As a note the armies don't have to be painted.

Quote :
Min. 3 Colours + Based isn't that hard, and only for the people who really want to do well ... as Sportsmanship + Painting softscores are added to your generalship scores for a final total.

This means we should be able to get a few people down there.

Should be a good weekend!
