Game 1

Menoth(Neal) Vs Cygnar (Andy)

E Feora
jacks
Castigator
Devout
Repenter
Dervish

support

Full Temple Flameguard and Unit Attachment (TFG+UA)
choir

In a nutshell, Andy ran the lancer up to my front line. Caine then used the arc node to cast a slamming spell to throw my Devout in Feora, causing 3 pts of damage.

Next turn as the armies moved steadily closed, the Thunderhead became close enough to use the f*****g pulse, which hits everything in 6". Andy hit Feora for no damage, killed some TFG, but most importantly hit Caine, his own caster and rolled 2 6's for damage Razz Since this f*****g pulse had hit Feora, it then auto hits with the next attack, boosted, Andy rolled 3 more 6's to waste Feora.

improvements for next time
I have met this tactic with the Thunderhead before, and it is deveastating. I need to prioritise it in the kill list.
If I had been more sensible with Feora, and kept her at the back, she would not be using her strengths as a front line aggresive caster. Maybe have her on the 2nd wave 3" or 4" behind the TFG. This then limits the jacks manouvrability.

An alternative would be to put the jacks further in front of the TFG to bear the brunt of the assault.

Game 2

Menoth(Neal) Vs Khador (Alex) - as if you dont know that already:lol:

E Feora
jacks
Castigator
Devout
Repenter
Dervish

supprt
Full Temple Flameguard and Unit Attachment (TFG+UA)
choir

Zerkova
jacks
Spriggen
Beast 09

support
Doom Reavers
Greylords
something else!

Let it be know, this is the first game in about 15 months that I have won againt Alex. For those who didnt see it, this resulted in an inpromptu victory dance, shout, etc.

round 1
Neal - Feora put escort up, and ignite on the Castigator. TFG shieldwall advance, with the jacks covering their right flank.

Alex - puts the Doom Reavers in front with 2 jacks behind, Greylords take the left.
Zerkova casts watcher - if anything ends within 6" of Zerkova, then target model gets to move and attack.

round 2
Neal - I can Alex getting some charges on here, so try and take them on the TFG for their set defense giving +2 def, making them good front line charge takers. The jacks remained on the flank for the counter charge. Feora stayed safely towards the back of the TFG unit

Alex - Doom Reavers - CHARGE Sad they are nasty! for each kill, they get to make another attack, so wasted half of the TFG squad. they put some hurt on the Castigator and Devout too.

The spriggen charged towards the TFG with its massize lance not impaling a many TFG as it should have.

Beast 09 made a charge and used Thresher - he can hit EVERYTHING in line of sight and range. This deadly attack is punishing to tightly pasked units of infantry, but the high Def/Arm of the TFG held out.

round 3
Neal - Boosted attack/damage from the choir + ignite gave the Castigator pwr 20 flame fists. Seeing the back of beast 09 made an irresistable target for the Castigator, and waster Beast 09 in 3 smacks, leaving 2 wasted focus.
The Devout fails to pop a Doom Reaver.
The Repenter move up to Zerkova and squirts hot fire all over her, boosted - causes considerible damege.

Feora then charges the Greylord, casts her feat to give her 6 focus, and to ensure Zerkova is on fire ( this may have happened before the Repenter squirted her). With Escort up, she is now in the region of armour 23 (memory?)

round 4
Zerkova dies in the maintanence phase of fire.

Neal proceeds to shout and dance at full vigour Very Happy

thoughts for next time

A caster kill from fire is an unglamorous way to go, and I can consider myself lucky for getting it. Although it is Feora's thang!

I was really pleased with the counter charge manouvre from the Castigator on Beast 09, although I over estimated the effectiveness, and could have put some of the focus elsewhere.

If the TFG are going to be on the front line recieving charges, I should commit them more to that role, spreading them with a wide frontage to prevent odd Doom Reavers getting round the back/side.

I considered Feora's feat to be well timed as otherwise she would have been nailed from the Spriggen, and a juicy target for others getting a charge on her. This also allowed Feora to the get to the fire on Zerkova early, then keeping Zerkova in her control area to keep the fire alive, baby, yeah!
